Ask anyone who trades Rainbow Six Siege accounts which skin buyers name first
and you get the same answer: Black Ice. It is a weapon skin — a translucent
blue-black pattern — and on the account market it functions as a badge:
proof that the account opened enough packs, for long enough, to get the drop
that most players never see.
Black Ice was introduced in Siege's first year as a legendary-tier weapon skin
available only from Alpha Packs — the loot boxes earned through play or
bought with credits. It could not be purchased directly from the store, it had
its own weapon variants, and the drop rate at the legendary tier was low
enough that opening packs for a specific Black Ice became a meme in the
community. Over the years Ubisoft has changed how Alpha Packs work more than
once, but the constant has held: Black Ice is a pack item, not a store item,
and there is no reliable way to buy it outright.
That is the entire reason it prices accounts. Anything sold in the store is
worth what the store charges; a pack-only skin is worth what the market says,
and the market says "whatever it takes to skip the packs".
We receive Rainbow Six accounts with the clearance level, the number of
operators and the number of skins read from the account data. We do not
receive skin names. Ubisoft's account data reports how many cosmetics an
account holds, not which — so a «Black Ice» filter on any shop is a filter
on what a seller typed, not on what the account has.
On our Siege shelf, Black Ice lives where the
supplier puts it: in the listing title, together with the other named skins
the seller chose to call out, and on the screenshots. We would rather say
"read the title" than offer a checkbox that reads as verified when it is not.
We measured it when this page was first written, on a shelf of under a hundred
Siege listings: the accounts whose title mentioned Black Ice did not sell
for more than the ones that did not. They sold for about the same, slightly
less. The shelf is small and it moves, so we no longer print that split as a

What does move the price on this shelf is the account itself, and the tables
below are read live:
Level and operators step the price up cleanly, many times over from bottom to
top — read the listing counts before the medians, because this is a small
shelf and the top bands are a handful of accounts each. A skin does not step
it up, because a skin is one item on an account, and the account is what is
being sold. The Black Ice listings on our shelf are mostly mid-level accounts
whose other numbers are ordinary, and the market prices the ordinary numbers.
One row in each table deserves its own sentence: the listings that state no
level or operator count at all. On this shelf they are about half of it, and
they are not the cheap half — they are the accounts described in prose by the
seller rather than read from the account data. Read the number next to them,
not the label, and treat them as a different kind of listing rather than as a
band.
- Do not pay for the word. Black Ice on an account with ten operators and
a level in the teens is an ordinary account with a nice skin. Price the
account, then treat the skin as a bonus.
- Check that the skin is for a weapon you use. Black Ice exists per
weapon, and an account's Black Ice is on whichever gun the pack gave it
for. A screenshot shows which; the title usually does not.
- Read the level and the operators first. They are read from the account
data, they cannot be typed in, and they are what the shelf prices. The
ranked-ready shelf filters for the level
fifty gate, the stacked shelf for fifty or
more operators.
- Verify in the game before you confirm. With escrow the money stays
frozen until you say the account matches. Open the weapon skins, find the
Black Ice, then confirm.
Put Black Ice in the title — buyers search for it and read for it — but put
the level and the operator count in front of it, because that is what sets
the price. A listing that leads with the skin and buries a level in the
twenties is a listing that will be discounted by the first buyer who reads
the card.
