Every other thing on an Apex Legends account can be bought with money: skins,
packs, the battle pass, even most of the rank if you count boosting. An
heirloom cannot. It comes out of packs at a rate Respawn does not publish and
guarantees only after a very large number of them, and that is exactly why an
account that has one is priced as a different product from an account that
does not.
It is also why heirloom accounts are the part of this market with the most
fiction in it. Here is what the item actually is, why no shelf — ours included
— can filter for it, and how to check a listing yourself.
Heirlooms are the melee cosmetics tied to a legend — Wraith's kunai, Bloodhound's
axe, Octane's butterfly knife and so on. They arrive one of two ways:
- Shards from packs. Opening Apex Packs can drop heirloom shards, and a
full set of them buys any heirloom in the store. The drop is rare, but there
is a hard guarantee: an account is promised a set of shards within 500 packs
opened. Five hundred packs bought outright is several hundred dollars, and
that figure is the floor the market prices the item at.
- Collection events. During an event, buying every one of the two dozen
event items unlocks that event's heirloom directly. The full set costs well
over a hundred dollars each time, and the event heirloom is exclusive to it
until it eventually rotates into the shard store.
Either route means one thing for a buyer: whoever built the account spent
either a great deal of money or a great deal of time, and there is no cheap
way to have done it. A listing with an heirloom at the price of a listing
without one is a listing to be suspicious of, not a bargain.
We receive Apex accounts with their level, rank and rank points read from the
account data. We do not receive a field that says «heirloom», because EA's
account data does not expose the collection as a list a supplier can read out.
That is not a gap in one supplier's spreadsheet; it is how the platform works.
Any site offering an «heirloom» checkbox is therefore filtering on something
a seller typed, not on something read from the account — which is precisely
the field a dishonest seller has the most reason to type. We would rather show
you where to look than build a filter that reads as verified when it is not.
On our Apex shelf the heirloom, when there is one, is on
the screenshots and in the collection on the card, and the listing says so
where you can see it.

Two things to read off it. The listings that state no tier at all are the
cheap fresh accounts — that row is the bottom of the market, not a mystery.
And among the listings that do state one, the tiers do not line up as a
staircase: a Diamond account is not reliably dearer than a Gold or a Silver
one, and the order shuffles as the shelf turns over. Level tells the same
story — it tracks price weakly at best.
That is the heirloom, showing up in the data as the thing the data cannot see.
Rank and level are what the listing states; the collection is what the buyer
pays for, and a Bronze account with an heirloom costs what a Diamond account

The practical consequence: if you are pricing or buying an heirloom account,
the rank table does not apply. The comparables are other heirloom listings,
one at a time.
- Find it in the screenshots. The heirloom shows in the legend's melee
slot and in the collection screen. A listing that says «heirloom» without a
screenshot of either is a listing that says so.
- Match the heirloom to the legend. Each heirloom belongs to one legend.

- Look for the shards, not just the item. An account with unspent shards
is an account that can buy any heirloom in the store — listed honestly as
shards, it is worth about the same as an heirloom and more flexible.
- Check the packs opened. A level 60 account with an heirloom and no
collection-event items opened a lot of purchased packs, or got the rarest
drop in the game. Both happen; the first is far more common, and the level
and the purchase history on the card should agree with it.
- Confirm inside the game before you confirm the order. With escrow the
money stays frozen until you say the account matches. Open the collection,
find the heirloom, then confirm. That is the whole point of the window.
- Prestige skins — the mythic-tier legend skins that evolve through
challenges — come from their own events and are often listed next to
heirlooms. They are valuable and they are not heirlooms; the listing should
name which it means.
- «All heirlooms» is a phrase that appears in searches and on listings.
Count them on the screenshots. An account genuinely holding many heirlooms
is a very expensive account, and the price should say so before the title
does.
An heirloom is on the account, not on a platform, so it follows the EA
account wherever it is linked. What you must do in the first ten minutes is
the same as for any EA account and matters more here because of what is on
it: change the password, move the email to your own, turn on EA login
verification, and remove any linked console profile that is not yours. EA
restores accounts to whoever holds the earliest purchase receipts, and an
account with an heirloom has a purchase history somebody may remember.
