The rank an account has reached is the number the shelf sorts by, and the top ranks are where the money is. Ranks I to VI are the historical trees — the grind that everybody does — and the accounts that stop there sell as a head start. Rank VII and above is top tier: the modern jets and main battle tanks, the part of the game that takes the longest to reach and that most buyers are actually buying an account to skip. The price steps up sharply there.

Premium vehicles are the second axis, and at equal rank they are most of the difference between two listings. A premium is bought — with Golden Eagles or in a pack at the store — and a top-tier premium costs as much as a full game. A listing that names its premiums is telling you what it cost to build; a listing with a long list of them is a collection, and it is priced like one whether or not the tree behind it is finished.

Golden Eagles still on the account are the unspent budget and add in proportion. Hours are a biography rather than a price: an account with thousands of hours has a researched tree and a crew that took those hours to train, and the rank and the premiums already say so.

What does not matter much is the nation on its own. Every nation has a tree, and a rank VII Sweden line and a rank VII USSR line are worth about the same to the market — until a buyer wants to play one of them specifically, at which point the nation is the whole purchase. Read it as a precondition, not a price.

Decide what you are skipping. If it is the grind to a specific tree — Soviet aviation, German ground — filter for the nation and the branch first, because an account with the wrong tree researched is a different product however high its rank. If it is a particular vehicle, read the named premiums and the top of the tree; a title that lists them is telling you exactly what you would get.

Then the rank. Rank VII and up is the top-tier band and is priced as one; below it, an account is a head start on the historical trees and is priced as that. Set the filter before comparing listings, because inside a band the differences are smaller than between bands.

Third, the login. A War Thunder account created through Steam logs in with Steam and has no email of its own until it is linked to a Gaijin account; one created at Gaijin logs in with an email. Both are sold here, and the listing should say which — and whether the email, where there is one, comes with it. That line decides whether you can keep the account, and it comes before any vehicle.

Last, the extras: Golden Eagles, premium time still running, event vehicles and decals such as the Old Guard badge that mark an old account. They separate two otherwise equal listings, and not before.

The login is the risk, and it splits in two. An account made at Gaijin is recovered through its email — a listing without the mailbox is an account the seller can take back. An account made through Steam is recovered through Steam, and it cannot be moved to an email of your own unless it is linked to a Gaijin account, which the seller may or may not have done. Ask which it is before you read a single vehicle.

Gaijin's terms, like every publisher's, do not provide for selling accounts, and support returns an account to whoever can prove the original registration and the first purchases. That is why the native mailbox matters more here than the rank: it is the proof. What protects you as a buyer is holding that mailbox and setting your own password, plus escrow — the payment is held until you confirm the account opens and the hangar matches.

There is no wipe and no region lock in War Thunder, which removes two of the risks other shelves carry. What remains is ordinary: a listing that describes a tree it does not have, which the hangar shows in a minute.

Change the password, move the email to your own, then turn on two-step authentication on the Gaijin profile — or, for a Steam-born account, secure the Steam login first and link a Gaijin email second. Do it before you confirm the order; the confirmation is what releases the seller's money.

Then open the hangar and compare it with the listing: the nation and branch researched, the top rank reached, the premiums named, the Golden Eagles balance. Vehicles are how this shelf describes itself, so check the hangar against the title rather than the title against itself.

Listing is free and you receive exactly the price you set: the platform's fee is added on top for the buyer rather than taken out of your price. Lead with the rank and the nation — «Rank VII, USSR aviation» — because that is how the shelf is sorted and filtered, and a listing without a rank is invisible to the top-tier slice. Then the premiums by name, and the Golden Eagles. Say whether the account was made at Gaijin or through Steam and whether the email comes with it; on this shelf that is the line that decides the sale.
