Recon Expert is a Season 1 shop skin from late 2017 that then vanished for almost three years — long enough to become the byword for a rare locker. It returned to the shop in 2020, which is exactly why it prices the way it does now: rare by history, not by lock.
This shelf lists accounts with the skin in the locker. The card shows the rest of the account, which is what separates a 2017 locker that happens to hold it from a 2020 account that bought it on return.
Because the return split the market. Before 2020 the skin alone put an account in the top bracket; after it, the skin itself is buyable and the premium moved to the account around it — creation date, the other Season 1 and 2 items, whether the locker was built when the game was new.
So the price on this shelf reads from the company the skin keeps. Recon Expert next to Renegade Raider or Aerial Assault Trooper is a first-year account; Recon Expert next to Chapter 2 pass items is a locker that bought it later.
