Path of Exile's economy is currency, and currency is the easiest thing in the
game to sell — until you name the wrong league. Standard and every temporary
league are separate economies; a fortune in one is worth nothing in another,
and the rate inside a fresh league moves every day. The first line of a PoE
currency listing is the league. The second is the mode. Only then the amount.
This is a guide for the seller. The application is at
/sell/apply?offer=currency; for a rough number
before you list, the PoE item value calculator
returns a directional cash range from what you describe.
- League. Current challenge league, Standard, or a legacy league that has
merged. Current-league currency sells for the most; Standard for far less
and more slowly.
- Mode. Softcore, Hardcore or Ruthless. The hardcore and ruthless
economies are smaller and pricier per unit.
- Currency and amount. Divines and Mirrors set the scale; Chaos is priced
by the hundred; rarer orbs are quoted against Divines.
On the listing you set the unit (one Divine, or one hundred Chaos), how many
units you have and the minimum order. The buyer picks a quantity; the total is
your unit price times that number. No discount ladder — one price for every
unit.
Currency is worth the most in the first two or three weeks of a league, when
everyone is building and nobody has farmed. It falls steadily through the
league and drops sharply at the end, when the league merges into Standard and
the currency becomes Standard currency. A listing left at the week-one price in
month three does not sell; edit it as the rate moves. A quote here is good for
a day.
For items the rule flips: the base is worth nothing and the roll is
everything. A well-rolled rare, a mirror-tier crafted item, or a unique with a
top roll and the right links is priced individually — list every mod, the
links, the corruption and the league. Common uniques with no roll worth
mentioning are worth their vendor price. Gear on a Solo Self-Found character
cannot trade at all.
You receive exactly the price you set: no percentage, no per-transaction
charge, no withdrawal fee, no rank to grind before the rate improves. The cash
rate for PoE currency is what it is; the only question is how much of it a
site keeps, and here the answer is none.
- The buyer pays into escrow.
- The order appears in your seller cabinet at
/seller/orders with the league, the amount and the
buyer's character name.
- You trade the currency in your hideout or a town, and mark the order
delivered.
- The buyer confirms. Your money moves to hold.
- It stays on hold until the warranty window ends, then lands on your
balance.
Split large amounts across several trades. Never trade before the order shows
as paid — the buyer who wants the currency first "to check it" is not a buyer.
Grinding Gear Games forbids real-money trading, and enforcement lands on the
accounts involved. Escrow protects the payment, not the account. Keep the
trading character separate from anything you cannot afford to lose, and keep
individual trades small.
Apply once at /sell/apply?offer=currency.
Listings go through moderation before they reach the storefront; after that
you set the unit, the stock and the minimum, and edit them as the league moves.
