Ask «how do I transfer my War Thunder account» and half the answers are
about moving from a console to PC, and the other half about something else:
the migration to the CIS region that appeared in 2024 and is asked about
most. They are different things, and the second one cannot be undone. In
order, then.
| version | who runs it | client and store | for whom |
|---|
| Global | Gaijin Entertainment | warthunder.com, the global launcher, Steam | the whole world |
| CIS region | Pixel Storm (under a Gaijin licence, since March 2024) | warthunder.ru, a regional launcher, a local store | the CIS countries and Georgia |
In March 2024 War Thunder in the CIS countries and Georgia got a local
publisher. The point of the region is payment by local means and regional
prices, which the global version does not guarantee for those countries.
The game is the same and the progress is the same, but the accounts are
separate: a CIS-region account does not log into the global client, store
or forum, and a global Gaijin.Net account does not log into the regional
ones.
The migration is automated: you open the account migration page under your
Gaijin.Net login, read the terms, press a few buttons. The progress and
every purchase move over in full. After that, the regional launcher, a
login, and the game as before.
What to know before pressing:
- One direction, one time. From the global region to the CIS — yes;
from the CIS to global — no. The migration is irreversible.
- A bound email is required. Only a Gaijin.Net account with an email
address attached can migrate. An account created through Steam without an
email is bound to one first — and that is the next point.
- Steam stops working after the transfer. Once the email is bound and
the account has migrated to the CIS region, logging into War Thunder
through Steam and paying through Steam are no longer possible: only the
regional launcher and the regional store.
- A console account moves to PC first. Migration is open to PC
Gaijin.Net accounts only; a console account goes through the
console-to-PC transfer as a separate procedure, and only then to the
region.
- Other Gaijin games are untouched. If the same Gaijin.Net plays
Enlisted, it keeps playing Enlisted as before after War Thunder migrates.
Anyone who did not migrate stays in the global version with all their
progress and purchases and plays as before. The transfer is by choice only.
Sellers who state the version write «Global» or «[PC/GLOBAL]» — and a
listing without the mark on this shelf is, as a rule, global too: a
Gaijin.Net account played through the global client or Steam. A CIS-region
listing, when one appears, will say «CIS» or «СНГ», and the table above
will show it as its own row.
What that means for a buyer:
- You play from the CIS and want regional prices — a global account
suits you: after the purchase you migrate it yourself, once and for good.
For that the account's email has to become yours — that is the «full
access» line in the listing, and without it the migration cannot start.
- You play from outside the CIS — buy global only. An account migrated
to the CIS will not log into the global client, and it cannot be moved
back.
- You want to play through Steam — buy global and do not migrate: the
Steam login switches off after the transfer. A «Steam account with War
Thunder» listing is a global account whose Gaijin.Net may be bound to
Steam without an email; you bind the email yourself when you take over
the login.
The difference in medians between the rows of the table is composition, not
«global is cheaper»: the marked and unmarked listings are the same sellers
and the same kinds of account, and inside them the price is set by the rank
and the premiums. That is the subject of
how much a War Thunder account is worth.
- The version. Decide where you will play — the global client, Steam or
the CIS region — and take a listing that logs in there or can move there.
Until that matches, the rank does not matter.
- The email. The transfer requires a bound Gaijin.Net email, and the
same email is what the account is recovered through. «Full access» with
the mailbox handed over is the only form in which an account can be both
migrated and kept.
- The account. Only then the rank, the top-tier vehicles, the premiums
and the Golden Eagles.
The slices carry their own live medians:
And when you are ready — sell your War Thunder account:
escrow holds the payment until the buyer confirms the account opens and the
email and the version are as described.
The table on this page is read from our live catalogue when the page
loads, not written into the text — the shelf moves, and so do the numbers.
The version is read from the seller's own title; a listing that does not
name it is counted as «not stated». The transfer terms follow the official
migration and CIS-region pages at the time of writing; check them before
you press, the migration is irreversible.
