Short answer first: IKONIK is a promotion skin, and promotion skins are the
scarcest class Fortnite has. The median IKONIK listing on our shelf sells for
$205.24, against
$41.72 for the median Fortnite account. The
cheapest listing with it is $99.59,
the dearest $1,498.58, and
64 of the
1 972 live Fortnite accounts carry it. The
IKONIK accounts shelf is where those numbers come from; it
also prints the median of accounts without the skin and how the lockers of the
two groups compare.
IKONIK was Samsung's Galaxy S10 promotion in the spring of 2019: buy the phone,
redeem the code in the Fortnite app on that phone, get the skin and the
Scenario emote. One redemption per device, no other route, and the promotion
closed in the autumn of 2020 when Samsung switched to a different reward.
Battle pass skins are rare because a season ended; Epic could in principle
change its mind about them. IKONIK is rare because a phone stopped selling
and the redemption mechanism itself no longer exists. It has never been in the
item shop and there is no path by which it could be, which is why "never
sold" on our shelf page is a statement about the game, not a promise.
The test on every item shelf here is whether listings with the item ask more
than listings without it after you account for locker size. IKONIK passes:
the two groups on the shelf hold lockers of comparable size, and the group
with the skin asks a multiple of the other. That is the signature of a skin
people want for itself, not of "big accounts happen to have it".
Part of the demand is the skin — a K-pop dance emote and a jacket that still
looks current. Part of it is the date: an IKONIK on the locker proves the
account was active in 2019 and usually carries the seasons around it, Chapter 1
pass items included. And part of it is confusion with the Galaxy skin, which
is worth clearing up.
Both were Samsung promotions, both are unobtainable, and they are listed
together often enough that buyers treat them as one thing. They are not.
Galaxy came with the Note 9 and Tab S4 in 2018, a year earlier; it is the
older and, on most days, the scarcer of the two. The Galaxy shelf prints its

An account with both is the collector's target; a listing that says "Samsung
skin" without naming which is a listing to ask about before paying.
The middle half of IKONIK listings sits between

, and the spread is the
account: the size of the rest of the locker, the other 2019 exclusives, whether
the Scenario emote is still there (it came with the skin, and most accounts
have it, but the card says), and the access type. For a promotion skin the
last one matters more than usual — a rare locker without the original mailbox
is a rental, and the rarer the skin the more that mistake costs.
