Can I use a German-region account from Poland, Italy or Spain?
Playing, yes, without restrictions. Buying inside the account is where the region shows: a card from another euro-area country goes through in most cases, and if Steam notices you are consistently elsewhere it offers to move the region to where you are — which is also the only supported way to change it.
Do German accounts have censored games?
Some older titles were sold in Germany in a cut edition and the account keeps that edition. It is a per-game question — most of the library is identical to every other region. The card lists the games; check the ones you care about.
Why is this region priced above the rest of the shelf?
Because the accounts are older and own more. Age and a paid library are what price a Steam account, and German supply on our shelf has both — the median is $25 here against $14 shelf-wide, and it is the library doing that, not the flag.

Steam accounts whose store region is Germany — read from the account itself, not from the seller's title. The German store prices in euro with VAT included, and an account keeps that region until someone completes a purchase from a German-issued payment method elsewhere.
It is the largest region on our Steam shelf by a wide margin, and also the dearest: on 6 September 2026 German-region accounts made up 444 of 1 544 listings with a median of $25.03 against $13.82 for the shelf as a whole. That is not a regional premium — it is older accounts with bigger libraries, which is what the German supply happens to be.
Two reasons, and they pull in opposite directions. For a buyer anywhere in the euro area the German region is simply home: same currency, same prices, no mismatch warnings at checkout, and the usual local payment methods — PayPal, paysafecard, bank transfer — work without a card from another country.
The second reason is the German edition problem. For years several games were sold in Germany only in a cut, low-violence version — Left 4 Dead 2 got its uncut release there as late as 2021 — and an account that bought the German edition holds the edition it bought. If a specific title matters to you, open the card and check the library, not just the game's name.
Everything else Steam-side is the same as on the rest of the platform shelf: full access with the email, a limited or full account, and the fifteen-day trade hold after the authenticator is replaced. The region only decides which store the account shops in — and for most of Europe, this is the right one.
